We would like to gauge your interest in an ESS/ECAP-supported H1B co-op program.
We know how difficult it is to find, recruit, train, certify, and obtain legal services and support for the acquisition of bilingual educators to become teachers in Texas.
We are looking at a partnership with Educational Support Services (ESS). They have access to experienced high-level bilingual, science, mathematics and other foreign language teachers looking to move to Texas. In addition to the quality of the candidates, this program would provide the highest levels of support and progress monitoring available in Texas.
Here are the details:
1. H1B Sponsorship is required
- ESS provides legal counsel for immigration
- District pays for sponsorship application and legal fees (other than an attorney)
- Co-op system allows small districts to get large district pricing per candidate
2. Teacher Certification
- ECAP provides all state certification services
- Emergency permits or Intern Certificates are available
3. Certification Exams
- All candidates have passed TOEFL
- ECAP and ESS manage content and PPR test preparation and testing schedule to meet district needs
4. Relocation / Housing
- ESS provides a paired candidate or community housing environment for candidates for purposes of study and support. The career path and classroom are the candidate's primary concerns in year one.
- ESS and ECAP partner to manage the progress of the candidate toward certification.
5. Hire from a pool of 50 (in year one) high-quality Bilingual Teachers
6. Extremely high teacher retention
- Candidates can remain with their sponsoring school for up to 6 years under H1B requirements
7. The program requires a minimum placement of 2 teachers for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Cost to the school
Costs will be determined based on the level of need but will likely range from $10,000.00 to $12,000.00 for the first 75 teachers.
This survey is to determine the program's viability.
