The Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced on May 19, 2006 that Educational Testing Service (ETS) was awarded a five-year contract to develop and administer the state's educator assessment program.
Will I Get A Barcode to Take a TExES Exam?
- No. The registration system does not use barcodes
- A unique ID# issued by SBEC will take the place of the barcode
How Will I Obtain My Unique ID#?
- Go to the SBEC website: www.sbec.state.tx.us
- Click the “SBEC Online for Educators” link
- Log into your account
- Your Unique ID# will be available
- Urgent: check/edit your information for accuracy by clicking the “Change Address” button
- Your information screen will show on the right. Scroll the whole page and update or correct your demographic information
- Do Not Apply for a Probationary Certificate at This Time
How Will I Register for Exams?
- To register for an exam, use the unique ID# from the SBEC website (See above)
- Go to this web address: www.texes.ets.org (Educational Testing Services)
- Using your unique ID#, follow the directions to register
- ECAP will pre-approve TExES exams for each intern as they meet the ECAP criteria for taking the exam. For example, if you are an ESL EC-4 intern and need to take the ESL supplemental exam, ECAP will pre-approve you for the ESL supplemental exam when you have taken the ESL online review.
When Can I Take the TExES Exams?
- The new testing company (Educational Testing Service) will post dates for all computer administered exams and Paper/Pencil exams on their website: www.texes.ets.org
- Note: When registering for an exam, you must choose "Alternative Certification Program" as your route.
