Testimonials

I have been the H.R. Director for two area school districts and have worked with different Alternative Education Programs, including ECAP. I, without reservations, trust that the candidates that I hire from ECAP are going to receive quality preparation and will be well equipped to be successful in the classroom. The most important thing for me as an H.R. director is that I don't have to worry about these candidates fulfilling the Highly Qualified requirements; ECAP takes the uncertainty out of that process for me. I trust the founder, Sharon Fikes and her staff so much that I even encouraged and paid for my own children to go through this program to become certified teachers. ECAP has my full endorsement!

Cedar Hill ISD

When thinking of ECAP, I am reminded of a quote by Miguel De Cervantes, "To be prepared is half the victory." Having worked for the railroad before deciding to enter the education field, I needed the guidance of a coherent and qualified program in order to be successful in the classroom. ECAP provided me with the pertinent information that prepared me to pass my test as well as to be well equipped for the classroom experience. With a student centered approach to education, ECAP cultivates the learning of each intern with realistic and practical lessons that are critical in today's changing educational environment. Utilizing the tools I learned through the ECAP program I have been more influential than I would have ever dreamed. I won Teacher of the Year my second year teaching, was featured in the Arlington Star Telegram for my educational work, was presented an award from the Texas House of Representatives for creativity in the classroom, was nominated for the Martin Luther King Service Award in Education, have been featured in the fourth edition of Harry Wong's best seller, The First Days of School, and I was just recently named as the youngest assistant principal in the Arlington Independent School District. Thank you ECAP for the time and attention you gave me in order to prepare me to positively touch the lives of thousands of students.

In Birdville ISD, ECAP is more than an alternative certification program; they are partners in our quest to hire the best teachers for our students. Our relationship with ECAP does not start or stop with the hiring process. ECAP is dedicated to providing applicants that are highly qualified and exposed to a higher quality of training. We know that our ECAP teaching interns will be paired with an experienced field supervisor that monitors their progress and perpetuates their growth in the pedagogy of teaching. Our relationship with ECAP is built on trust, respect, friendship, and a common mission to ensure that every child has a teacher that cares about them and prepares them for the 21st century. We can always call upon ECAP to answer our questions regarding certification and to assist us in interpreting the latest certification issues that resonate from the State Board for Educator Certification. ECAP truly is a partner in fulfilling our staffing needs in Birdville ISD.
